In honour of International Women’s Day 2019, south-west based Footsure Western Ltd are teaming up with inspirational and award-winning women to encourage more female entries into careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).
Footsure Western Ltd, through their safety footwear brand, Amblers Safety, have collaborated with building surveyor Sophie Lydia Smith to develop a range of female safety boots which will be used by Civil Engineers, Katy Watts and Kelly Jeffery as they lead the first ‘all-women engineering team’ to build a new STEM classroom block on the shores of Lake Malawi.
Katy, who was named in The Telegraph’s Top 50 Women in Engineering said: “we are absolutely thrilled to be supported by Amblers Safety for our STEM Build Malawi project. Having footwear specifically designed for women for the expedition is going to ensure that we can work comfortably to complete our construction project.”
Sophie Lydia Smith added: “Katy is a role model to me and many others in construction, engineering and beyond! The work she and the STEM Build Malawi team are doing is incredibly inspirational and I look forward to following their trip. I hope the Amblers Safety Lydia boots come in handy.”
