Carréducker is a handsewn bespoke shoemaking business, founded by Deborah Carré and James Ducker; designing and making bespoke handsewn and bespoke manufactured shoes to commission at their workshop in Shoreditch, London.
Each pair of bespoke shoes is designed and hand crafted to suit the customer’s personal style and fit from slippers and sneakers to dress shoes and elegant boots. Starting with a detailed consultation and customer measurements, they work with a team of specialists around the country to create the lasts, patterns and uppers for the shoes; after fittings with the customer, the shoes are then handmade at their workshop or finished by their specialist manufacturer in Somerset. Customers unable to travel will benefit from their new virtual measurement and fitting service, delivered via video and Zoom.
Carréducker firmly believe in the importance of passing on their skills and in the innate benefits of making by hand. Teaching since 2006, they are the definitive trainers in handsewn shoe making in the UK. Along with one-to-one training and masterclasses for more experienced shoemakers, they developed their now-famous, 12-day course to introduce complete beginners to the craft and now offer a wide array of shoe making, pattern making and leather work classes and training videos. They are a worldwide supplier of the tools and materials used in handsewn shoemaking and work with Jadd Shoes and William Lennon to produce small runs of their Kickstarter-launched, Barkan Desert boots and Tor boots; sustainably made-to-order in natural veg. tanned leathers and unisex sizes.
DIGITAL INTERNATIONAL SHOEMAKERS CONFERENCE
