Tricker’s amongst first to be awarded Royal Warrant to H.M. King Charles III

Northampton shoemakers and BFA Member, Tricker’s, are among the first businesses in the United Kingdom to be awarded the Royal Warrant to H.M. King Charles III. This accolade comes at a wonderful time for the business (established 1829) which celebrates their 195th anniversary in 2024.

The Royal Warrant is awarded for shoe manufacturing, and it is with great pride that to this day Tricker’s continues to make shoes for His Majesty.

Martin Mason, the Managing Director of R E Tricker Ltd, who has been appointed as the grantee for the Royal Warrant, said:

“Being granted a Royal Warrant is a great privilege for everyone associated with Tricker’s. The factory now has a long association with the Royal Family, and it is a source of great pride that we have become shoe manufacturers by appointment to His Majesty the King. To hold a Royal Warrant is a huge honour and I know how pleased and proud our customers and everyone here at Tricker’s in Northampton will be when they hear the news of this award.”

Tricker’s is one of the oldest shoemakers in the United Kingdom and is still independently owned. Every pair of Tricker’s boots and shoes is made 100% from start to finish in their Northampton factory, with the business employing 89 highly skilled local craftspeople. Each pair of Tricker’s is made using 265 individual processes over 12 weeks. Goodyear welting is a key part of that process, ensuring that a pair of Tricker’s shoes will last a lifetime thanks to the ability to continually repair and restore them.

Tricker’s was originally awarded a Royal Warrant in 1989 for HRH The Prince of Wales. A Royal Warrant is a recognition given to people and companies who have supplied regular goods to specific members of the British Royal Family.

In 2019, HRH Prince Charles visited the Tricker’s factory in Northampton. He toured the factory and met with the craftspeople working on the factory floor. HRH also visited the bespoke shoe room where his Tricker’s shoes are made.
