About Frank Wright

When it comes to history, Frank Wright has an endearing story to tell. Born in 1885, Mr Frank Wright opened a small workshop in Chelsea, later moving to Kettering, Northamptonshire, the original heartland of British shoe manufacturing. He developed a niche business manufacturing military boots for the Cavalry Officers at Chelsea Barracks.

Gaining an enviable reputation Frank’s business grew, he adapted to changes in the market, new avenues were explored: work boots and everyday boots became part of the range and then came fashion…..As a result, the Frank Wright store on Carnaby Street was THE destination for men’s footwear in the 1960s. If you wanted the best beatle boot in town, that’s where you’d head.

Today Frank Wright’s legacy continues, many silhouettes from our archives can be seen in the collection (no platforms – yet!) but with a trend relevant twist. To this day, the Frank Wright business continues to build on Frank’s original work ethic; to produce great product! It’s as simple as that, that’s what we strive for on a daily basis.
