Developed by shoe experts, shared by shoe lovers, the Introduction to Footwear Manufacturing course has been designed to rapidly upskill teams.
The training is undertaken completely online and will ensure students come away with a deep understanding of the products they are working with, an appreciation of the unique process of designing and making shoes, as well as a greater passion for footwear.
Description
The Introduction to Footwear Manufacturing course comprises five units, and will take learners around two hours to complete. Each unit incorporates a range of animated videos, short tests and collateral to takeaway.
The curriculum includes:
Feet, Footwear and Sizing
The importance of our feet, how footwear evolved into the product we know today, what is sizing and why does fit matter?
An Introduction to Footwear Construction
This unit deals with the basic construction principles of the most common types of footwear. The learner will also gain an understanding of footwear terminology.
Making Fashion Footwear – The Cemented Process
Understanding the design, development and manufacturing of fashion footwear using the most common process; cemented construction.
Materials and Components
The primary materials and components used in footwear, their pros and cons for use and sustainability.
Ethics and Sustainability in Footwear
In this unit learners will be introduced to the core ethics and sustainability issues within the footwear sector.
Who is this course for?
The Introduction to Footwear Manufacturing course has been formulated specifically for staff working in retail, sales, sourcing, business support and communications, especially those who have had little formal training in the footwear sector.
It is ideal for developing your team’s product knowledge, or for use as part of an induction process.
