China has remained one of the world’s consumer markets with the quickest rate of growth for more than ten years. In 2021, China generated retail sales revenue of over 44 trillion yuan (approximately US$6.5 trillion). However, for multinational companies, doing business in China is never easier when Chinese brands adopt a more agile operating model. After COVID, the market saw a significant change, with a considerable effect on consumers’ choices and behaviour.

The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) would like to help more UK brands learn about the opportunities and challenges for the retail market in China.

Decoding the China Retail Market

During the seminar, the UK brands will gain market and category intelligence on the current trends post-COVID, an understanding of the market entry options, and changes in consumer behaviour over the past several years. UK companies will also have the opportunity to meet DBT China colleagues, network with China retail industry stakeholders, and exchange ideas with their peers.

Meet the Buyers

Join us for a business matching event where UK brands will meet a delegation of Chinese buyers and discuss e-commerce, brick-and-mortar retail, joint ventures, wholesale, duty-free, and corporate gifting opportunities.

Spaces are limited. Registrations will be judged on the basis of product category, pricepoint, brand awareness, revenue, online presence and existing export presence globally.

Registration deadline:  8 December 2023
