BFA Basic Shoemaking Course with SATRA Experts

A one-day introduction to footwear manufacturing

This classroom-based introductory course is designed to give attendees a broad understanding of the shoemaking process and how footwear is manufactured.

It is ideal for anyone new to the footwear industry or looking to build their knowledge through practical examples, expert guidance, and hands-on learning.

Attendees will be introduced to:

  • Basic shoemaking terminology
  • Different footwear styles

  • Processes used in the stitching and making rooms
  • Practical examples of how footwear is put together

The course will also include a review of key footwear materials, including:

  • Upper materials such as leather, synthetics, and textiles
  • Sole materials
  • Insoles
  • Toe puffs / box toes
  • Stiffeners / counters

Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet SATRA experts face-to-face, handle materials, and see practical examples as part of the learning experience.
