CovationBio|PDO produces a 100% bio-based renewable building block Susterra enabling bio-based solutions in the value chain off footwear. Through a proprietary process that uses industrial dent corn feedstocks instead of petroleum-based feedstocks we produce 1,3-propanediol. These innovative ingredients create high-performance, plant-based products that enhance people’s lives, protect the environment, and reduce the world’s dependence on petroleum.
Specific for the footwear industry Susterra is the building block for polyols used in TPU and PU materials which are key for renewable midsole and insole production and are used today by several footwear brands to improve their sustainability score. Susterra enables a substantial reduction in carbon footprint for almost 50% and most important it is originating from a renewable feedstock with no land use change and no impact on the food chain. In summary CovationBio|PDO enables the shift from petroleumbased materials to bio-renewables without giving in on quality and performance.
