It is fantastic to see so many BFA Members represented in the shortlist for this year’s Drapers Footwear Awards 2022. Ahead of the ceremony at Grosvenor House London on June 23, 2022, here is a rundown of the BFA Member businesses that are in with a chance of winning the night’s top accolades.
Let’s start with the shortlist for ‘Best New Brand,’ which includes one of the newest Members of the BFA, Jardin Living. This emerging company has impressed with its footwear brand, Ration.L, specialising in Vegan Society Certified sneakers in a range of stylish colours.
In the ‘Best Sustainable Initiative of the Year’ category, we are thrilled to see not one but four BFA Members! Firstly, there’s new Member, Aspect Climate Projects, which was selected for its unisex plant-based sneaker concept. Next, there’s Fyous and its custom-made footwear that uses a 3D scanning app and polymorphic moulding technology, followed by Joseph Cheaney & Sons for its Eco-Aware collection. Finally, Chatham Footwear also secured itself a spot on this shortlist, but more details on this business’ Drapers Footwear Awards 2022 success is described below.
We are proud to see Nicola Sexton nominated in the ‘Footwear Designer of the Year’ category, as well as Tower London and WJ French & Son listed in the ‘Independent Footwear Retailer of the Year’ category. Other BFA Members of note include Vivobarefoot, which is nominated for the ‘Kids’ Footwear Brand of the Year’ award; Barker Shoes that’s up for the ‘Men’s Footwear Brand of the Year’ prize, and Blowfish Malibu, Caprice, Tamaris and Josef Seibel UK that are going to battle it out for the ‘Women’s Footwear Brand of the Year’ title.

Some BFA Members are shortlisted in multiple categories and could walk away with many trophies on the night! Shoedini is hoping for success in the ‘Independent Footwear Retailer of the Year’ and ‘Team of the Year’ categories, as well as for one of its own, Stacy Pinnock, who is nominated for the ‘Store Staff Member of the Year’ accolade.
Precious Soles (ShoeFit.uk) is shortlisted in the ‘Independent Footwear Retailer of the Year’, ‘Team of the Year’ and ‘Store Staff Member of the Year’ awards, the latter represented by Peter Varnavas. Elsewhere, Start-Rite Shoes is up for ‘Kids’ Footwear Brand of the Year,’ as well as ‘Footwear Designer of the Year’ for its in-house superstar, Emily Linnell. Rosamund Muir appears in the Drapers Footwear Awards 2022 shortlist twice for ‘Best New Brand’ and ‘Footwear Designer of the Year’, while Hotter Shoes is nominated in three categories, ‘Best Footwear Store Design’, ‘Best Online Operation of the Year’ and ‘Team of the Year’. Chatham Footwear is also hoping for success in two categories: the previously mentioned ‘Best Sustainable Initiative of the Year’ for its Java G2 boat shoes, as well as ‘Best Online Operation of the Year’.
Some BFA Members are a recurring fixture in this year’s Drapers Footwear Awards shortlist, including Schuh, which is nominated for ‘Multiple Footwear Retailer of the Year’, ‘Best Footwear Marketing Campaign’ and ‘Best Online Operation of the Year’. Skechers USA is featured in the shortlist for four awards, including ‘Best Footwear Marketing Campaign’, ‘Best Footwear Store Design’, ‘Kids’ Footwear Brand of the Year’ and ‘Men’s Footwear Brand of the Year’. Last, but certainly not least, there’s Sante & Wade, which has swept the board in four categories: ‘Best New Brand’, ‘Best Online Operation of the Year’, ‘Team of the Year’ and ‘Footwear Designer of the Year’ for Shola Asante.
